(VOVworld) - Cooperation among the six countries that share the Mekong – Lancang River should focus on water management for their benefit and sustainable growth in the region, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said at the second Mekong-Lancang Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

The meeting, which opened on Thursday, aimed to discuss progress made after the first meeting in China in March and mapped out future orientations.
Mr. Minh said that the Mekong-Lancang cooperation mechanism should promote regional connectivity and support member countries in conducting major infrastructure projects.
A joint press communique was adopted at the end of the meeting. Participants also agreed that the next meeting would be slated for China in 2017.
