PHNOM PENH, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia and Singapore vowed on Monday to enhance their cooperation in combating terrorism and cross-border crime, said a Cambodian spokesman.

The commitment was made during a meeting here between Cambodian National Police chief Neth Savoeun and visiting Singapore commissioner of police Hoong Wee Teck, said National Police spokesman Chhay Kim Khoeun.

"After their talks, both sides agreed to work together to combat terrorism and transnational crime, which are the priority tasks for the two countries as well as for Asia," he told reporters after the meeting.

The two sides also agreed to set up a direct contact mechanism to better protect the two countries' investors, tourists and citizens, the spokesman said.

He added that Singapore also promised to help train Cambodian police officials in the skills of anti-cyber crime and gambling control.
