Vietnam ranks 13th in IPv6 adoption globally

HANOI, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam ranks the 13th in the world in Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) adoption rate with over 14 million users, Vietnam News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Specifically, Vietnam ranks second in Southeast Asia, after Malaysia, and sixth in the Asia-Pacific region, according to Google.

Many mobile service providers have planned to switch to all IPv6 service to address the deficiency of internet addresses, simplify networks and save costs and resources.

By the end of 2018, Vietnam, with a population of nearly 94.7 million, had roughly 13 million fixed broadband internet subscribers, and 129.9 million fixed and mobile phone subscribers, including 125.6 million mobile phone ones, according to the country's General Statistics Office.

Vietnam made total telecommunications revenues of 395.8 trillion Vietnamese dong (17.2 billion U.S. dollars) in 2018, said the office.
